Music

From Boccherini to the Bunnymen, my own tastes in music are somewhat eclectic.

As discussed in my book, growing up in Manchester was akin to being indoctrinated in the attitude and fashions of a Northern music scene, and sure enough, a lot of people will have enjoyed or heard of the likes of The Smiths, The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays, New Order/Joy Division, and so on.

And of course, the biggest Manchester band of all time, The Bee Gees.

In my second year at secondary school, we were all guinea pigs for the first G.C.S.E.'s, and this involved coursework as opposed to just exams. Thus, at the tender age of thirteen, we were all subjected to "The History and Appreciation of Music", whereby I learnt more about the music of J.S.Bach, than I did that of Mark E. Smith.

Legends

When I got the opportunity to do my own radio show, on local community radio, I was delighted to put in the effort and the energy, and it paid dividends.

Sadly no longer running, RINS FM had a group of dedicated volunteers, who gave up their time each weekend to broadcast a wide variety of interesting programmes, from jazz to local cultural heritage, news and sport to current affairs.

Feel Free to click on the link and check out some of my recorded "Legends" radio programmes, also available via the section at the bottom of the page.

It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to do them, and thanks to a dedicated bunch of local volunteers, I am still grateful for that opportunity!

I hope you enjoy them!

Zenchantment

I have subscribed to this channel on youtube and would say it is highly recommended, for anyone pursuing a path including meditation. The music is peaceful, calm, relaxing, and conducive to a beneficial state of mind.

Sure even if you happen not to meditate, the Zen Garden music videos uploaded online are perfect to relax to. Enjoy!
