In the modern day context, there are many kinds of yoga. I have come across a few variations, such as Iyengar, Hatha, and Ashtanga, but there are of course, many more.
Originating in the Orient, Yoga has considerable health benefits and has become a popular pastime activity in Western culture.
One thing is for sure. Yoga has helped me personally, in cultivating a regular meditation and mindfulness practice.
There are many benefits, from relieving stress, to staying in shape.
Yoga at Sunyata
Whether you prefer a good workout, or more of a gentle practice, I would recommend coming along to the group at Sunyata.
In addition to the yoga session, which is attended by young and old, male and female, experienced and beginner, there is a meditation session afterwards for those who have time to stay on.
We have had a few teachers over the years, including Jackie and Sharon, but for the most part, Yoga at Sunyata has been and still is, initiated and led by Donal at North Tipp Yoga.
Donal has a relaxed style, and is a very experienced teacher. Whether you can make it to Sunyata or not, I would recommend you look him up, particularly if you are based in and around Nenagh, Roscrea, and other parts of North Tipperary.
Based in North Cork, Noreen does a mix of therapeutic yoga, yoga for beginners, and pregnancy yoga for expecting mothers.
Check out the link for times and days you can go along and experience a session with a highly recommended breathwork practitioner.
In addition to Donal, Noreen, and Sharon, I would also recommend husband and wife team Emma and Tim at Zen Kidz Yoga in Limerick.
It is fanstastic and encouraging to see young children being encouraged to practice yoga and experience the benefits! Click on the link to find out more information.
If you find that accessing Sunyata is an issue, or either Limerick or North Cork does not suit, I would not hesitate to recommend another local practitioner, who is currently taking groups in Sixmilebridge in East Clare.
