So this is how it feels to be City?

So whilst the powers that be were deciding King Kev would only be runner-up in the much discussed 'Player of the Year' award he was simply doing what he does best on the pitch.

Being instrumental in a record-breaking home win for the champions.

And banging in a 30 yard screamer which was indeed a beauty to behold and entirely unstoppable - his fifth goal from outside the box this season and a record for any midfielder in the Premier League.

Talking of records is quite relevant in Manchester football folklore right now. And not just in the context of sublime playmaker and assist wizard Belgian Kevin de Bruyne.

League champions and League Cup winners for the 2017-2018 season, Manchester City are still in the process of breaking more records.

In the game against Swansea today (22 Apr 2018) a record of 1008 passes in a game was recorded, surpassing the previous record, also by Manchester City.

The 5-0 win saw a cumulative total of 98 league goals for the season, the current record standing at 103 by Chelsea.

The current total of 90 points after 34 games is on course to reach the never-attained 100 point mark and outdo the existing record, also by Chelsea, of 95 points after 38 games.

In terms of goal difference, the current tally of +78 is already ahead of the current record for a season which is +71.

And despite the disappointment of the exit in Europe at the hands of corrupt UEFA officials who clearly had an agenda as opposed to incompetence, which will spur this City side on next season, the current tally of 29 wins is on course to exceed the record of 30.

Having said all of that, Pep Guardiola's post-match conference was typically about how his players could improve!

Pep has been phenomenal in his modest and hard-working approach to a City side that is playing unbelievable football.

All in all, it has been a season of sublime goals, exhilarating to watch, attacking, positive brand of total football inspired by Pep's tutelage under Johann Cruyff at Barcelona.

He speaks about his philosophy for how the game ought to be played in this short video :

Footy that is being begrudgingly acknowledged by the mainstream media as on another level and clearly head and shoulders above anything English football has ever witnessed to this day.

Accolades will continue to pour forth.

Praise ought be generous.

For this Blue, it is a long way we have come from the days of inflatable bananas, getting 30K plus attendances in the old second division, and a succession of poor managers, average players, and bitter gallows humour in the face of being mocked by our "quiet neighbours".

And the KDB thunderstrike?

Absolutely phenomenal, and a goal of season contender for the true player of the season.

Enjoy this while it lasts - even if you are not a City supporter, this City side will go down in history, like the Arsenal team of invincibles.

What we are witnessing unfold at the Etihad is a brand of football for the purist, a total commitment to philosophy, and delivering sumptuous banquets of attacking football for the fan, neutral and punter alike to feast upon.

Here's hoping those Liverpool and United supporters don't get too sick.
